online music service in June 1999 because he wanted an more convenient way to find songs. He compressed song into MP3 files to make it easier to share and download. Music that are downloaded, is then organized and burned on
compact discs.
Napster was accused of illegally distributing songs but was defended by fans, that they were just using Napster as a way to share music. Due to various intrigues and lawsuits, Napster has gone legal and now asks for subscription fees and small payments for songs downloaded.
